Meet your Providers

Turns out, we are all warm and relational...

Alana Semchenko, PsyD.

I completed my doctorate degree in clinical psychology in 2009 and work with clients across the lifespan.

I believe therapy is most effective when the relationship is authentic and collaborative, these are two essential components. I do my best to show up to each session as my genuine self and I want clients to feel safe enough to do the same. Therapy should make room for a person’s strengths, interests, and creativity. Whether you love art, music, writing, or something else entirely, I enjoy finding ways to use your natural talents and abilities to support growth and healing.

I treat trauma and attachment-related concerns, anxiety and mood problems, grief and stress-related disorders, and behavioral concerns. I have worked with adoptive and foster families since very early in my training and remain deeply passionate about this work. In addition to therapy, I enjoy consulting with other providers and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support clients and families in a well-rounded way.

I completed EMDR training in 2014 and earned my EMDR Child Specialist Certification in 2022. I also integrate IFS, DBT, and CBT techniques throughout my work. When working with children, I incorporate play whenever possible because I know it helps children learn, connect, and express themselves more naturally.

Welcome! I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of Mary in 2019 and have experience working with individuals across a wide range of emotional and behavioral concerns. I am passionate about helping children, teens, and adults navigate life’s challenges while feeling more grounded, authentic, and reconnected with themselves. I believes healing happens when people feel safe enough to show up as their true self; I strive to create a space that is supportive, human, and without judgement; And when appropriate, I believe lightheartedness and moments of laughter can be its own kind of medicine.

I am trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), EMDR for children and adults, and play therapy. I also utilize principles from IFS, DBT, CBT, and art/sandtray therapy.

I specialize in working with complex trauma, anxiety, depression, attachment wounds, mood disorders, behavior issues, and parent coaching. I work with clients ages 3-35.

I work with adults who are navigating trauma, life transitions, stress, anxiety, and the parts of life that can feel overwhelming or difficult to put into words. My style is warm, collaborative, and relational, with humor used when it fits — because therapy can be meaningful without feeling overly formal or uncomfortable.

I have a strong interest in working with individuals who have experienced trauma, as well as first responders and law enforcement professionals who often carry stress, responsibility, and difficult experiences in ways others may not fully understand. My goal is to provide a space where clients feel seen, respected, and supported as they work toward healing and change.

My work is trauma-informed and person-centered. I am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, EMDR, and IFS-informed approaches, and I tailor therapy to each person’s needs, goals, and pace. I believe therapy is not about judging where you have been, but helping you better understand yourself, your nervous system, your patterns, and what you need in order to move forward.

I strive to create a therapy space that feels approachable, respectful, and real. My goal is for clients to feel comfortable showing up as they are, while also feeling supported in making meaningful changes at a pace that feels manageable.
